EmailTweet 0 Full-screen Split Pea Soup By Vitachef Content Dinner, Lunch Skillet July 11, 2016 Prep: 15 mins Cook: 3 hrs Yields: 8 Servings Ingredients 1 lb dried green split peas ½ lb bacon diced 1 c. celery diced 1 c. onion diced 1 c. carrots diced 2 tbsp chicken base 1 tbsp liquid smoke 1 tsp white pepper 128 oz water Salt to taste Directions 1Soak peas overnight. 2Preheat unit to 350 F. 3Add bacon and cook till browned and crispy. 4Pour off fat. 5Add 64 oz water and remaining ingredients and cover. 6Bring to a boil, then reduce temperature to 200 F and simmer for 1½ hours, stirring occasionally. 7Add remaining 64 oz water and continue to cook for 1 ½ hrs. 8Soup should be slightly thickened. 9Adjust with salt and pepper to taste.Temperature: 200 F.
